Creativity through the arts allows children to express themselves through art, specifically those who are not as comfortable in larger group social or athletic settings. Programs include dramatic reading, enhanced crafts, small plays and using technology.
The Art Room is all about using Right Brain Imagination. Art is self discovery – exploring that “spark of divine madness” each of us has. It is available to everyone at the club with everything any child might need to be creative. The room is divided into four stations each supervised by a rotation of staff artists: painting; arts&crafts; building/sculpture; and Sylvesterʼs Place where children can play with puppets/toy animals and makeup picture books and plays. A large 5ʼ mural is begun for all ages to participate. Also, free draw/painting and crafts with instruction, brain games, outdoor creative play, and art contests. Throughout the year we have guest artists/musicians, a monthly Grandparents Day, and GiveBack Tuesdays. Our Annual Christmas Art Show puts artwork on display with some going on to decorate the club, community events, and local businesses. In the Spring, artwork is submitted to regional and national exhibitions (six paintings went national last year and one is currently on a yearlong, national tour). Art at the BGC Club is for children to help them imagine – Iʼm*A*Gine.
